Oil Paintings

One of the greatest benefits of being a serious photographer is the frame of mind in which you put yourself.  You go through life with a camera hanging around you neck, always looking, seeking an image that says something, something profound in a graphic, artistic way, saying something bigger than just a record.
I have accumulated hundreds of thousands of images, taking photographs for over 50 years.  Some of the images almost have a life of their own, at least in my mind.  It’s like I’m drawn to them in a way.
I have always enjoyed drawing.  I have spent years at it, first for just pleasure and than in the advertising business, to communicate ideas.  One tries to develop skills. I have dabbled in various mediums ; color sharpies, pastels, watercolor and pencil drawings.  I have enjoyed them all, but have got the most pleasure from oil painting.  It seems to suit my personal artistic nature the best.
I use my photographic images as the subjects of my paintings.  I have taken many photographs of people in every day life.  I am reliving these images through my oil paintings.  Sometimes they almost seem to come alive for me in the paintings, I hope they do that for other viewers as well.
